Why Something New?

It has become a dilemma for owners and trainers of younger horses in the US – the absolute necessity of show ring mileage to develop winning, saleable horses, along with the growing cost of obtaining that mileage.  Much of the benefit of purchasing European horses is the result of the good mileage they receive as 4, 5, and 6 year olds.  Most of the countries we buy from offer quality one-day events for younger horses to get that all-important mileage.  Any area with a concentration of breeders and trainers will have these events throughout the year; offering not just affordable experience in the ring for the horses but serving as valuable market places as well. The time has come for such opportunities in our own country.                                                                                            

Why Now?

As costs of showing continue to rise throughout the country those with young horses are in real need of a cost-effective means of getting their horses ready for the show ring.  Linda Allen and the Young Jumper Championships carefully designed The Benchmark Program to meet that need.
